This is another nice relief from the hot spell. I’ve been wanting to do more than just spend a morning or afternoon on this water for a few years now. I’ve never put in any time fishing it up and down the whole reach. The time seems right, and the best damn campsite in the whole loop is open for a few nights. (#13 for future reference) Maximum shade, just enough of an opening in the big evergreen canopy for starlink, and the river right behind it. Score.
I never do catch very many good sized fish. I don’t really catch that many even counting the little ones, especially in that beautiful upper water. But I think my timing is a little late. The hot fishing here is late June, just like everywhere else in the Rocky mountains. I need to hit the drakes and stones here.
